I believe that health is desired by everyone whether it is actively pursued or just expected as a birth right.

 

It is now widely accepted that optimum nutrition is vital for the healthy functioning of mind and body and a lifestyle that includes a nourishing diet and the judicious use of supplements plays a crucial role in maintaining wellness. This is particularly true in this day and age when our high-stress, high-octane lives coupled with overconsumption of refined, processed foods and intensive farming practices continue to deplete the soil and in turn deplete our health.

 

From an early age I have had a keen interest in the medicinal benefits of food and as a naturopathic nutrition practitioner I am passionate about empowering people to improve their own health.  I consider health as not being merely about the absence of disease but even more importantly about a positive sense of well-being and through my own experiences I have seen how a healthy diet can play a hugely important and often central role in maintaining a healthy body and mind. 

 

Since I can remember I have always enjoyed learning about food and discovering how different types of food can have different healing properties, both internally, when consumed or used externally on the body. I’ve also experienced that the same type of food/drink when handled or cooked in different ways can change its vitamin and mineral content and therefore its healing properties.

 

Naturopathic nutrition is a holistic approach to health and well-being that aims to find and treat the underlying cause of an individual’s illness rather than just treating the symptoms. Thus my approach is not so much about telling you what to do as about educating you in order that you have the understanding to make informed decisions regarding your food and nutritional choices.  However, I understand that successful programmes must be realistic; my approach is to tailor recommendations into achievable goals which gradually enable you to make long term lifestyle changes aimed at improving overall health.
